SKS rifles are still available, albeit 2020 price is closer to $350 or $400. Even at that though, it gets you a semi-auto rifle that does a pretty decent job in combat terms. Ammo, so far at least, is easier to get and at a more reasonable price.

It's not so much anti Bubba as the fact that there essentially isn't a satisfactory way to mount a scope to a SKS, and for the effective range of the rifle, you're really just as well off spending the money on ammo and learning to shoot the iron sights well.
